Frances A. "Francesca" Leo

SCHENECTADY – Frances A. Leo, 94, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, December 22, 2025, following a long and well-lived life.

Born in Schenectady, Frances was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Monzo Leo. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School and went on to work as an executive secretary for the Hearing Society of San Francisco.

Frances had a deep love for the arts, travel, and community service. She traveled extensively and embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. “Francesca” sang with the Octavo Singers, enjoyed sailing and ice skating, and had a great appreciation for ballet and symphony performances. She even appeared as an extra in operas, a role “Francesca” truly delighted in. A positive and joyful woman, Frances was deeply devoted to her faith, her community, and her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, her spirit, and her lifelong appreciation of culture and connection.

Frances was predeceased by her siblings, Arnold (Rose) Leo, Louis (Gloria) Leo, Jr., and Salvatore Leo.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Eilish Leo; longtime dear friend, Darlyne Cognetti; and her many devoted and loving nieces and nephews.

Francesca’s family is grateful to the staff at the Baptist Health and Rehabilitation Center, for their care, empathy and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 9 am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish 2216 Rosa Road. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.

Calling hours will be held on Monday at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home from 4-6 pm.

Memorial Contributions may be made in Francesca’s memory to St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish.
