ROTTERDAM – Flora Rossi Scavia, 90, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Flora was born on April 3, 1927 a daughter of the late Dominick and Anna Maria (Cieri) Rossi. She was a 1945 graduate of Nott Terrace High School and worked for New York Telephone for a brief period. Flora was a devoted homemaker, she raised her children with love and taught them by example to be honorable, respectful and gracious. In her later years, she worked at Trustco Bank, retiring in 1985 after 17 years of service. Flora's faith was evident in how she lived her daily life. She was a devoted communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace and a member of the Rosary Society.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Roger Rossi, Marguerite Lindley and Jean Connelly.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Dominic Scavia, whom she married on November 9, 1947; her loving children, Sharon (Robert) Dawes, of Sand Lake, Donald (Ellen) Scavia, of Landenberg, PA, David Scavia, of Rotterdam and Debbie (Kenneth) Pennock, of Fultonville; her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Donald Scavia, Matthew Dawes, Robert Dawes, Sarah Mullins, Jessica Kern, Christopher Marotta and Sarah Marotta; a sister, Marion Hamil, of Rotterdam. She had eleven adoring great-grandchildren Nicholas, Alexander, Sydney, Jack, Parker, Piper, Aidan, Hannah, Maya, Christopher, and Gino, and several loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday at 8 from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St. and then to Our Lady Queen of Peace, Princetown Road where a Mass will be Con-celebrated at 9 am. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7:30 pm.
