SCHENECTADY –Filomena Liberata Serafini DiCocco, 91, entered into the arms of the Lord on Sunday morning at her home.
Filomena was born in Fontechiari, Province of Frosinone, Italy on April 20, 1919, a daughter of the late Angelo Antonio and Filomena Bianchi Serafini. She immigrated to the United States in 1938. She worked as a homemaker for many years caring for her husband and children. She then went on to work for the State in Albany. Filomena was a devoted communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a member of its Sacred Heart League.
Filomena was predeceased by her beloved husband of 43 years, Ercole DiCocco who died in 1986; a daughter, Maria DiCocco; a grandson, Matthew DiCocco; brothers, Dominico Serafini and Luigi Serafini; her father and mother in law, Ralphale and Concetta DiCocco
Survivors include her loving sons, Anthony DiCocco and his wife Stephani of Burnt Hills and Ralph DiCocco and his wife Maureen of Niskayuna; grandchildren, Shana, Kathleen and Eric DiCocco; brothers, Michele & Vita Serafini of Rexford and Frank and Maria Serafini of Schenectady; sister-in-laws, Mary Civisca of Scotia and Angelina Serafini of Niskayuna; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Thursday morning at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, then to St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 9 am. Entombment to follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Filomena’s memory to St. Anthony’s Church Memorial Fund, 331 Seward Place, 12305.
