NISKAYUNA – Ferdinando Mastroianni, 95, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at home, surrounded by family.
Ferdinando was born on December 2, 1927and educated in Caiazzo, Province of Caserta, Italy. He was the son of the late Giovanni and Anna Maria DeMatteo Mastroianni. On August 18, 1952, he married the love of his life, Margherita, immigrating to the United States in July of 1966. He was a welder by trade working for Schenectady Concrete and then General Electric for 22 years. Ferdinando was a great provider and a devoted family man. He embraced his heritage and passed his strong work ethic and traditions onto his family. He enjoyed wine making, gardening, hunting, and a game of bocce ball. He was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Margherita Del Vecchio Mastroianni; son, Giovanni Mastroianni; and siblings, Marietta Cimino, Pasquale Mastroianni, Alessandro Mastroianni and Giuseppina Padula.
Ferdinando is survived by his loving daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Giuseppe Cammarota and Claudia and Joseph Battaglia, all of Niskayuna; a treasured grandfather to Domenico (José) Cammarota, Ferdinando (Renée) Cammarota, Danielle (Garrett) Rockwell and David Battaglia; great-grandchildren, Monica and Eva Cammarota, Scarlett and Sophia Rockwell, siblings, Maddalena Almaviva, Angelina (Richard) Padula and Nicola (Fenisia) Mastroianni; sister-in-law, Genoveffa Mastroianni; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at St. Anthony’s Church.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11 am. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
