SCHENECTADY – Evelyn Bianchi James, 85, entered into eternal peace on Saturday in her lifelong home, surrounded by her loving family.
Evelyn was born in Schenectady on June 10, 1935, a daughter of the late Enrico and Pauline Cervona Bianchi. She was a 1953 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. Evelyn assisted her husband with the family business, while raising their children.
Evelyn began work at First National Bank of Scotia in 1978 and continued her 42 year career until March of 2020. She was known as an excellent dedicated employee who will be missed by all who were fortunate to have as a co-worker and a friend. A resident of Goosehill her entire life Evelyn was the neighborhood favorite amongst all. Evelyn was a strong independent woman with a warm and generous spirit, whose legacy of love, sacrifice and compassion has left a mark on the family and friends whom she cherished so dearly. A woman of devout faith, she was a faithful communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, a Venerini Associate; a member of the Sacred Heart League, an annual Feasta worker and one of the dedicated kitchen workers.
The James family is grateful to the staff of Community Hospice for the care, compassion and dignity shown to Evelyn.
Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert W. James, after 59 years of marriage in 2014; sister-in-law, Mary Frances “Bonnie” Bianchi; and brothers-in-law, George E. James, George Warren James and Charles James.
She is survived by her loving children, Robert James and his wife Marilyn, of Pensacola, FL, Richard W. James, of Schenectady and Terrie Lee (David Smith) Loudermilk, of Niskayuna; cherished grandchildren, Tiffany James, Benjamin (Heather) James and Brian (Rosa) Loudermilk, Jr.; great-grandsons, Caedmon and Casimir James; devoted siblings, Amelia and Anthony “Bunny” Pedone, Enrico “Muzzy” Bianchi; sister-in-law, Marilyn James; many dear nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Services adhering to COVID guidelines will be held on Wednesday morning at 9:30 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street and then to St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place, where a Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Rotterdam.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm.
