Ernest G. 'Ernie' Pierotti

SHALLOTTE, NC – Ernest G. Pierotti, 96, devoted family man and lifelong Schenectadian, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.
Ernie was born in Schenectady, a son of the late Guido and Josephine Laporta Iacomini Pierotti. He attended local schools and had a long and successful career as a sales representative with Canteen Corporation. A self-taught musician, Ernie was a famous drummer in the 1950s and 60s, playing throughout the area. He loved the Goose Hill Neighborhood where he grew up, often sharing many memories with his family; the NY Yankees and he was an avid golfer and a staple at Schenectady Municipal Golf Course, where he worked as a starter in his retirement years. His tall stature, gentle nature, hard work, and iron will are traits of Ernie’s that will live on with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving son, Michael A. Pierotti; brother, Ronald Pierotti.
Ernest is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Borini Pierotti, whom he married on July 3, 1949; loving and devoted sons, Rick (Trisha) Pierotti, of Leland, NC, and James Pierotti, of Buffalo; grandchildren, Dante and Demitria Pierotti, Sarah Pierotti and her husband David Smith and Christina Pierotti and her husband Andrew Donnelly; great-grandsons, Gavin Pierotti and Michael Smith; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Friday at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home Thursday from 4-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made in Ernie’s memory to St. Anthony’s Church.
