AMAGANSETT, NY - Erik Dimon Payne, 25, of Amagansett NY, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 14th, 2015 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on July 10th, 1989 in Riverhead, NY, third child and only son of Wesley B. Payne and Diane M. Payne. Erik graduated from East Hampton High School in 2007, and The Baran Institute of Technology in 2009 after studying auto body repair and painting.
He worked in the auto body industry, tended bar, and performed in local venues as the lead singer in his band. He was creative, artistic, and passionate about music. He was proud of both his heritage and the local East Hampton community. Erik had a laid-back and good natured character, a witty sense of humor, and a warm smile.
He is survived by Diane Lutzen-Payne, Wesley and Virginia Payne, sisters, Christina Fuller and husband Brian, Erin Easter and husband John, Twin sister, Nicole Payne, Niece, Zoe Fuller, nephews, Ryan and Shane Easter, paternal grandmother Shirley Payne, maternal grandmother Ingrid Lutzen, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including his dog, Brutus. He is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Sidney Payne, and maternal grandfather, Frederick Lutzen.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 11am at Oak Grove Cemetery, followed by a gathering at 26 Canvasback Lane in Amagansett. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Erik's honor be made to Elsa's Ark Animal Shelter- (631) 329 2900.
