GUILDERLAND – Emily Ruscitto Underhill, lost her battle with Multiple Myeloma on October 2, 2016. She had been battling Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and breast cancer in addition. She now rests peacefully in the arms of her Lord.
Emily was the youngest of seven children born to Emil and Nicholetta (Sarno) Ruscitto in Cleveland, Ohio in 1938. Upon the untimely death of her mother in 1940, she was raised by her paternal aunt and her husband, Donato and Julia (Ruscitto) Matricardi in Schenectady. She was a graduate of Nott Terrace High School class of 1956. After graduation she was employed by General Electric and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. She retired in 1999, as an administrative assistant from the G.E. Research and Development. In 1963 she married Robert B. Underhill and together they raised their three children in West Glenville where they lived for 38 years.
A proud American, Emily fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting Pearl Harbor with her husband and traveling to England, Scotland and Italy. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her happiest times were spent with her children and grandchildren who lovingly called her 'Bubbie'; and cooking the traditional Italian Christmas Eve fish dinner.
