WATERFORD - Elizabeth A. "Betty" Scarchilli (Doherty), 90, of Waterford, beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Scarchilli who passed away on May 9, 2015, peacefully entered into eternal life at her residence surrounded by her family and caregivers on May 25, 2015. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Esther M. Creswell Doherty.
Betty was employed at Neurenberg's a shirt factory in Lansingburgh as a seamstress and after her marriage to Anthony became a devoted and wonderful mother to her five children. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Waterford and St. Augustine's Church, Troy. She belonged to the former Camps Bowling League in Waterford which was one of her great enjoyments with her late sister in law and good friend Minnie. Betty also enjoyed spending time with her husband and children at their camp in Lake George.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty was devoted to her family and was happiest spending time with them, survived by her children, Michael Scarchilli (Marla) of Stillwater, Sharon Scarchilli of Clifton Park, Steven Scarchilli (John Brent) of Albany, Elizabeth Reo (Ray Marcucci) of Lake George and Bernard Scarchilli (Ellen) of Mechanicville; dear friend Rose Pennucci of Clifton Park; her grandchildren Jason Creighton (Michele), Scott Scarchilli (Kim), Geoff Scarchilli, Nathan Reo, Bernard Scarchilli, Stefhanie Scarchilli-Lisky (Jeramy), Daniel Reo (Amy LaPoint), Angela Scarchilli (Peter Lancaster), Nicole Reo (Dan Moreno), Alexandrea Scarchilli (Billy Hayner) and Olivia Scarchilli, and her great grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Jay, George, David Alexander, Justin and Aubrey. Also survived by her beloved sister Margaret "Peg" Johnson of Troy and the late T. Edward, Andrew J., Bernard J., Frank G., William J., Catherine C. Doherty and Helen Smith. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Also the family would like to express their special thanks to Betty's devoted caregivers Heather, Tracy (TDK), Candy, Cindy, Jen, Dianne, Jamie and Erin.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 9:30 AM from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, in Waterford thence to St. Mary's Church, Waterford, were at 10:30 AM a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 PM. Interment will be held at the Saratoga National Cemetery, Saratoga.
