Schenectady – Elizabeth Ciro, 78, entered peacefully into the Arms of the Lord on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Ellis Hospital.
Elizabeth was born in Pereira, Colombia, on August 8, 1942, a daughter of the late Adan Ortega and Consolacion Vinasco. She came to the United States in 1967 by herself, married, and bore one son, Frankling Marin and one daughter, Dianne Ciro. She was a woman of faith who was generous and benevolent. She was full of life and joy, and always strived to make others happy. She was a lover of animals and children. She has two deceased brothers and two living sisters who live in Colombia. She also has 4 nieces and 1 nephew who she treated like they were her own children. She loved volunteering at the church and for her local community and helping others become acclimated to life in the US. She taught Sunday school at the catholic school of her church and coordinated activities at the local food pantry. In celebration of women’s history she was awarded a NYC proclamation for her special contributions and outstanding service to the community.
Viewing hours were held at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home and A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Schenectady, NY
