Elenora Scripa Coons

June 27, 1932 — July 26, 2011

GLENVILLE – Elenora M. Coons was called home by our Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Ellis Hospital, following a long illness.
As Always, in life, Elenora always thought of her family first. Prior to her passing, battling grave illness, Elenora took it upon herself to prepare the body of this obituary, hoping to ease the burden of a family trying to put all of this into a concise yet coherent passage.
Elenora was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Louis Sr. and Mary Grace Scripa. A graduate of Nott Terrace High and Spencer Business Institute, Elenora held the position of Chief of Examinations in the Support and Processing Section of the Internal Revenue Service and retired after 38 years of service.
Elenora was predeceased by three brothers; James, Lawrence and Edward Scripa and one sister, Angelina Scripa.
Elenora leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years, Wilbur I. Coons; her beloved daughter Rose Ann and Son-in-law Doug Bradley. Elenora is also survived by three sisters, Elena and her husband John Collins, Virginia Varrone and Carmela Scripa; a brother Louis and his wife Rose Scripa; ten nieces, five nephews as well as twenty nine great nieces and nephews.
Elenora’s family would like to thank the beautiful, caring staff of both the 3rd and 6th floors of the A Wing at Ellis Hospital and Hospice for all their compassionate help.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place on Friday at 10 am, with interment immediately following in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Avenue.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm.
