Eleanor M. Caruso

SCHENECTADY – Eleanor M. Caruso, 94, entered into eternal peace on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Ellis Hospital, after a brief illness.
Eleanor was born in Schenectady, one of 15 children to the late Louis and Angela Rose (Morrell) Pirro. She was a Nott Terrace High School graduate and worked during the WWII war effort at the General Electric Co. She was a homemaker to her beloved husband Thomas Caruso, whom she married in 1947 and her children Patrick and Carmen. She loved to cook and especially enjoyed feeding the masses. Later in life, she worked at Ellis Hospital as an Operating Room Technician, a career she greatly enjoyed. In her later years, Eleanor's new found passion was art, especially nature scenes and watercolors. She was a kind, loving and lively spirited woman, devoted to her family and her faith.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Caruso and her beloved son Patrick Caruso.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Carmen (Randy) Burton, adoring grandsons, Justin (Andrea) Nichols, Tommy (Andrea) Nichols, and Marty (Rena) Burton; great-grandchildren, Jayde, Thomas and Madalyn; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday at 1:30 at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, with Fr. Dominic Isopo officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from Noon to the service.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions in Eleanor's name should be made to a charity of one's choice.
