Dorothy “Dottie” Pratico, 69, of Glenville, passed away on Tuesday, June 3 at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Niskayuna, Dottie was a life-long resident of the area. She graduated from Linton High School in 1974 and worked in several area businesses over the years, most recently as an administrative secretary for Ellis Hospital, before she retired in 2019.
Dottie was an avid gardener, fantastic cook and dedicated Yankee fan. Other than her home in Glenville, where she lived for 46 years, she felt most at peace on the rocky shores of Galilee, Rhode Island. She loved a challenging crossword puzzle, watching the orchestra at SPAC, and, most importantly, taking care of everyone who crossed her path.
Dottie leaves behind her cherished husband, Joseph Pratico, whom she married on July 31, 1976; two daughters, Erica Pratico (husband William) of Manhattan and Keri Pratico of Rotterdam; sister, Debra Knapik of Bisbee, AZ; one grandson, Daniel, to whom she was his beloved Mimi; mother-in-law, Mary Pratico of Rexford; brothers-in-law, Thomas J. Pratico Jr. (wife Sandy) of Rexford, Michael Pratico (wife Paulette) of West Brookfield, MA and Daniel Pratico of Rexford; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
She is predeceased by her parents, Carl and Marian Schaeffer, father-in-law, Thomas J. Pratico, Sr., and her pug, Peanut.
A Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church in Schenectady at 10am on Friday, June 13, followed by a burial at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
There are no calling hours.
Donations can be made in Dottie’s name to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Arrangements are by the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Schenectady.
