Dorothy Rita Knapick

SCHENECTADY – Dorothy Rita Knapick, 93, entered peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Thursday at Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center with her loving children at her side.
Dorothy was born and educated in Bridgeport, CT, a daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Callahan McHugh. During World War II, Dorothy served as a Corporal in the United States Marines. On June 17, 1947, Dorothy married her late husband Frank G. Knapick who died June 10, 1999.
She located to Schenectady and worked at St. Clare's Hospital for many years before retiring. Dorothy was a most endearing woman, devoted to those she served, her Country, family and her faith. She was a communicant of the former St John the Baptist Church.
The family is grateful to the staff at Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center for the kind, loving and dignified care Dorothy received throughout the past nine years.
Survivors include her children, Kathy and Robert Taylor of Whitehall, MT and Paul and Anna Knapick of Schenectady; Grandsons, Tracy Taylor, Shain (Megan) Taylor, Christopher (Megan) Knapick, Bryan (Corinne) Knapick, David Knapick and Anthony Knapick; great-grandchildren, Drake, Carlie Grace and Isabel Taylor and Olivia Knapick.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 8 from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets, then to St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am. Interment will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 7 pm.
