SCHENECTADY – Dorothy ‘Dottie Greenwood Kortz Dicresce, 88, of South Gate Apartments, a friend to all, passed away on Saturday at Capstone Nursing Rehabilitation Center from COVID-19.
Dottie was born in Schenectady on November 14, 1932, a daughter of the late Frederick and Wilamina Bradt Greenwood. She was educated in Schenectady Schools. From a young age, Dottie worked at Samuels’ on Jefferson Street, which she and her beloved husband Richard later purchased renaming it Dick’s. Together they operated the bar for many years. After selling the bar, Dottie began work at Coyne Laundry, retiring after 20 years; after which, she began working at Mike’s First Prize Hot Dogs, greeting each guest with her smile and kind heart. She was devoted and helpful to her precious family, friends and patrons.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Roland Kortz in 1963 and the love of her life whom she married in 1972, Richard Dicresce until his death in 2011; brothers, Frederick ‘Pete’, Gideon ‘Punch’, Charles ‘Chuck’, William ‘Billy’ and Jeremiah ‘Jerry’ Greenwood.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah Kortz Civitello Hebert; step-children, Richard Dicresce, Jr. and Debra Dicresce; adoring grandson, Chad Kortz; great grandson, CJ Kortz and Kaitlyn (Tim) Bodkin; great-great grandchildren, Harry and Caroline; brother, Irving ‘Butch’ (Lee) Greenwood; sisters-in-law, Helen, Mona, Louise and Pat Greenwood; many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm.
