Dorinda 'Dee' Hamm

SCHENECTADY – Dorinda J. “Dee” Hamm, 79, a longtime resident of Goose Hill, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, with her beloved partner at her side. Dee faced a four-year battle with breast cancer with remarkable courage and grace.
Born in Hudson on March 11, 1945 to the late Harry B. and Marcia Proper Hamm, Dee grew up on the family farm in Bells Pond, NY, where her passion for tractors began. She graduated from Germantown High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force and then attended Dutchess County Community College. Upon completion, she was granted admission to Columbia University in Manhattan however, sadly her continuing education was interrupted due to health issues. Dee dedicated 27 years as a research technician at Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer. In her retirement she worked in the food service department at Glendale Home for a number of years.
Dee was a loyal, generous, trusting, big hearted, deeply thoughtful a faithful woman, known for her wisdom and resilience. Dee was always ready to help. She faced and overcame numerous adversities without any complaint. She cherished the moments spent at her summer home on Sacandaga, where she enjoyed canoeing, entertaining friends, and relaxing by the campfire. Her interests included being a Reiki Master; softball, cars, animals, Polish traditions, and her beloved Boston Red Sox.
Dee is survived by her devoted partner of 47 years, Camille Sasinowski; as well as numerous family members, including nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many treasured friends.
Calling hours will be on Monday, August 5, 2024 in St Luke’s Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady, they will begin at Noon, A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1p.m. Followed by Entombment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
