Doreen M. (Barrett) Lancaster

Doreen passed away peacefully on December 20th, 2023. She was born in Syracuse, NY to
William J. “Frag” Barrett and Jeanne (McArdle) Barrett. Doreen was a graduate of Bishop
Ludden High School, class of 1971. She was a lifelong resident of Syracuse until her retirement
in 2018. Doreen moved to Saratoga Springs, NY, to be close to the two things that made her
smile most, her son Peter C. Lancaster, and her granddaughter, Harper A. Lancaster.
Doreen was a strong swimmer in her younger years, competing in swimming meets across New
York state and acquired many accolades to prove her ability. Doreen found the most joy in
the simplicities in life. Being a grandmother, a beautiful sunny day sitting by a pool or lake,
gardening, reading a good book, surrounding herself with loved ones, being in charge of the grill
at a family gathering, and a “quick” trip to the casino.

Doreen had a way of helping others with her always kind and positive words of support and
encouragement. She was a very special soul to those who knew her best and will be missed
dearly.

Doreen is predeceased by her sister, Debra (Barrett) Eaton. She is survived by her only son,
Peter C. Lancaster, daughter-in-law, Angela Scarchilli, and granddaughter Harper A. Lancaster.
Six brothers and sisters, Dianne McClusky of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Donna Barrett of
Syracuse, Dennis Barrett of Syracuse, Denise Barrett of Helena, Montana, Dave Barrett of
Syracuse, Dan Barrett of Syracuse, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 12th, 2024, at 11 am. St. Clements Church, 231
Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
All are welcome. There will be a gathering immediately following the Mass.
