Donald A. Guely

SCHENECTADY - Donald “Don” Guely, age 76, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 20, 2023, after a brief illness.
Don was born on March 7, 1947, to the late Art and Rose Guely, and was a lifelong resident of Schenectady.
He graduated from Bishop Gibbons HS in 1965, Hudson Valley Community College, and Computer Programming Institute. He worked as a Computer Operator for Control Data Corporation and later retired from NYS OTB in Schenectady. Don will always be remembered for his warm, fun-loving, and generous spirit. He was always ready and willing to make people around him laugh with a joke or two. He had a passion for music, loved to sing, and enjoyed his Karaoke circuit. He was affectionately known as “Donzie – Schenectady’s oldest teenager”.
Don is survived by his wife, Martha, his brother Robert Guely (Bonnie) of Trumbull, CT, and his sister Joan Hawley (Ken) of Seymour, CT. He is also survived by his son, Casey Rosiak (Bridget) of Glenville, NY, and his step-children Eric Thomas, Kim Thomas, and Jennifer Mahoney (Russ) all of Waterford, NY. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was a communicant of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Schenectady
Services will be held on Monday at 8 am at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am on Monday at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1801 Union Street. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, on Sunday from 5-8 pm.
