SCHENECTADY- Dominick R. 'Dick' Faraone, 88, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord at home on Saturday morning.
Dick was born in Schenectady on June 7, 1924 a son of the late Louis and Carmella Marotta Faraone. He attended Nott Terrace High School and enlisted in the US Army. He served in Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland Battles and was honorably discharged in 1946. Dick worked for a number of years with General Electric, and then with the Schenectady School District, retiring in 1987 after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a loving and caring husband and father. He enjoyed golfing with his buddies and long walks on ocean beaches with his family. Dick was a member of VV Golf League and a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church.
He was predeceased by his infant grandson, Daniel Willi and siblings, Louis, Diane, Fred, Michael and Armand.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 53 years, Catherine Motto Faraone; children, Joyce (Robert) Willi, of Glenville, David, Steven and Janet Faraone, all of Schenectady; grandchildren, Matthew, Sara, and twins Sean and Justin Willi; brother Arthur Faraone and his wife Eileen, of Schenectady and sister, Carmella 'Babe' (Robert) Narkiewicz, of Ballston Spa; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday morning at 8am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street and then to St. Paul the Apostle Church, Albany Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick's memory to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
