NISKAYUNA – Dolores I. Carrara, 94, entered peacefully into the Arms of the Lord on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Ellis Hospital.
Dolores was born in Schenectady the daughter of the late Frank and Phyllis Serapilio. She was a 1947 graduate of Mt Pleasant High School and received her Associate's Degree from the University of Miami. Dolores began work with Sperry Gyroscope, in Great Neck, LI, and in 1955 began working for the General Electric Company in Schenectady, Utica, and Connecticut. Dolores finished her dedicated working career as a Secretary with the Niskayuna School District, retiring in 1988.
As a young child, Dolores had a passion for the Arts. At the young age of 4, she appeared on WGY performing in the FBI in Action; and as a teenager with WRGB. She performed in many dramatic shows, fashion shows, Drums to Drums Dynamos on the Mohawk, and appeared in National Geographic. She was a communicant of the former St. John the Baptist and Our Lady of Fatima and presently St. Kateri of Tekakwitha
Dolores was an ever-enduring and devoted wife and mother. She embraced her strong Christian Faith, leaving a legacy of kindness, honor, and dedication to her family, friends, and community.
Dolores was predeceased by her beloved husband, Marcel ‘Marc’ Carrara; a loving son, Bruce Carrara, and a brother, Arnold Serapilio.
She is survived by her son, Mark Carrara and his wife Jane, of Malta; grandchildren, Nicholas Carrara, Joe Cousineau and his wife Stacie and Michael Cousineau and his wife Lauren; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Camile Serapilio; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 3, 2023, at 10 am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 2216 Rosa Road, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
