Dierdre Mcgrath

Chattanooga, TN - Dierdre McGrath, a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017. Dierdre proceeds her late father Robert Smith, parents Valerie and Charles Campbell, her husband of 30 years, John C. McGrath, her son, John M. McGrath, and daughter, Megan B. McGrath, her siblings Deanna S. Smith, Bonnie Williams, Kelly Hayes, Cassandera Guevara and Anthony Smith, nieces, Breanna Gould and Kate Atkins, great nephews, Josiah and Jace, and great niece, Amelia, her faithful four legged companions 'Lady' and 'George' who stayed by her side until the end.
Dierdre was devoted to her nursing education, lastly to CT Hospice for thirteen years before retiring. She was raised in Colonie, NY as Dierdre Smith, she was educated at South Colonie Central High School, graduating in 1979 while also attending BOCES Technical School for Nursing. She spent her young adult years in San Bernidino, CA attending School of Cosmotology. She returned to New England in 1992, residing in Seymour, CT for 21 years until retiring in Chattanooga, TN.
Dierdre enjoyed raising her beloved children, caring for dear patients, Harley rides with her husband and friends. She was "The Holiday Event Planner" for her entire family. She made every holiday beyond special for all those blessed to be around her. There were "NEVER enough Christmas lights!"
She loved drawing and was a devoted New York Yankees fan. She found Autumn to be her favorite season taking in it's colorful beauty, crisp air, and Autumn decorations.
She will be beyond missed each day without her.
Calling hours will be held at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street, Schenectady on Wednesday from 4 to 8PM.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 10:30. Interment to follow in St Peter's Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made in Diedre's memory to Hospice of Chattanooga.
