Derwood ("Don") F. Littlefield

Derwood Littlefield, Crozet, VA – Derwood (“Don”) F. Littlefield, 93, of Crozet, Virginia passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, while in the company of his loving wife Lottiemae (“Lottie”) Littlefield of 68 years.
Born on August 26, 1930, to the late Orace and Dorothy Littlefield in Brownfield, Maine, Don graduated from Westbrook High School in Westbrook, Maine. He went on to join the United States Marine Corps and was a Veteran of the Korean conflict. After his honorable discharge from military service, Don met Lottie Smith of Schenectady, New York. They were married in September 1955 in Gray, Maine.
Don had a career of 38 years with the General Electric Company. He began his career working at Aeronautics & Ordnance Systems where he met Lottie. To further his career. he attended Union College in the evening degree program studying electrical engineering. He served in various engineering management roles, including being an integral member of the team that developed the Computed Tomography (CT) scanner in the 1970s. He also was a recipient of several patents related to electronic control systems technology.
In addition to his GE career, Don also was a New York State Real Estate Broker. He and his wife operated Littlefield Realty, Inc. with several offices located in Schenectady County. He was the real estate developer of the Country Estates subdivision in Duanesburg, NY.
Don was a member of the General Electric Elfun Society, the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Marine Corps League, and the General Electric Quarter Century Club.
Don and Lottie raised four children, two sons and two daughters in the Schenectady area. They are blessed with twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Lottie Littlefield, his children, Derwood L. Littlefield and his wife Aura (Americus, GA), Bradley E. Littlefield (Liverpool, NY), Michelle Littlefield Winnie and her husband Ronald Winnie (Seneca, SC), and Sheri Littlefield Kelly and her husband Brian Kelly (Crozet, VA). He loved and cherished his twelve grandchildren: Ryan Littlefield, Ronald Winnie, Adam Winnie, Kathryn Littlefield, Eric Winnie, Morgan Winnie, Francesca Moreno, Donovan Littlefield, Arrianna Littlefield, Alexander Moreno, Davin Littlefield and Zachary Moreno, and two great-grandchildren Westin and Amelia.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 9th at Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home in Schenectady. Calling hours are 9-11 am, followed by the service at 11:00. Interment will be in Park View Cemetery with full Military Honors. Contributions may be made on behalf of Derwood F.
