SCHENECTADY - David H. Carach, 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, after many years of illness. He was born in Schenectady, a son of the late Herman and Mary Pena Carach. He graduated from Linton High School and earned an associate degree in computer science from Fulton Montgomery Community College, anticipating a stable career in a growing field. Throughout his career, he worked for several companies, mainly including Wang Laboratories.
In his younger years he grew up playing baseball, passing the passion down to his son through coaching his little league teams. As he grew older, he loved playing softball with friends, as well as golf at his favorite par three courses. David enjoyed the thrill of horse racing and spent many summer days with his family and friends at the Saratoga Racetrack. In fact, there were days he enjoyed the thrill so much they spilled over into the Saratoga Harness track. By far, he found the most joy spending time with his family, specifically his three grandchildren. They were his biggest passion.
Dave faced life’s challenges as best he could. The family is forever grateful for the wonderful care, love, and friendships he received from those at the Schenectady Center. Anyone who knew him remembers him with warmth, kindness, and love.
He was predeceased by his sister Marguerite (Peggy) Carach Falvo;
Dave is survived by his wife, Shirley Jones Carach; son, David (Gina) Carach; grandchildren, Victoria (Tom) Woods, Samantha and Colby Carach; and many nieces and nephews.
For those wishing to honor Dave and the Carach family, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
