SCHENECTADY ~ Daniel A. Del Pivo, 90, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, July 4th, 2014 at home, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 66 years, Lillian, family and friends.
Daniel was born in New Haven, CT on July 8, 1923, a son of the late Zefferino and Elvira Del Pivo. He graduated from New Haven High School, and enlisted in the US Army. Daniel served from 1941-1945, during WWII, with the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Division, and was awarded a Purple Heart for his dedicated service to his Country. He located to Schenectady and worked for the General Electric in the Turbine Department, retiring after 42 years of service. He was a devoted communicant of St. Luke's Church.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Bruno Del Pivo.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife Lillian Fazzone Del Pivo; many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 9 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets and then to St. Luke's Church, State Street, where a Mass will be celebrated at 10am. Interment, with military honors will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Avenue.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 pm.
