SCHENECTADY – Clare J. Caplinger, 91, entered into eternal peace on Friday, February10, 2017 at Ellis Hospital, after a brief illness, with her loving family at her side.
Clare was born in Schenectady, a daughter of the late John and Sadie Jakubowski Nalaskowski. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in January 1944. Clare began work in 1945 at Sealtest Foods in Schenectady and later in Latham, a dedicated employee for 37 years. After the Sealtest plant closed, she worked for NYS Energy Office at the Empire State Plaza, retiring after 8 years. Clare lived a full life, filled with love, kindness and faith. Her smile and gentle manor brought joy to her family and friends. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband George R. Caplinger, whom she wed on August 18, 1962, until his passing on May 4, 2006; her sisters, Helen Kovarovic and Elizabeth 'Betty' Kovarovic; and a stepson James Caplinger.
Clare is survived by her nieces and nephews, Barbara Lusk, Susan Hartman, Sandra Ross, Judith Miller, Frank Kovarovic, Frank Fogg, and Brian Fogg; granddaughter, Melissa Ruggiero; sister-in-law and dear friend, Marie Fogg; several great nieces and great nephews and three great grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street at 11 am. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
