Carol Winne Griffin

NISKAYUNA - Carol Winne Griffin, passed away after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's.
Born February 22, 1944, Carol was the daughter of the late Matthew and Ann (Kukan) Winne. A lifelong resident of Niskayuna, she spent her summers working at the family owned motel business in Hague, NY. After graduating from Niskayuna High School, class of 1962, Carol graduated from Cornell University in 1966.
Carol was an avid quilter and had been employed by Flying Geese Fabrics on a part time basis. She had been a member of the Hillandale Garden Club, the Schenectady Quilters Club and was active in Niskayuna Reformed Church functions. Carol also ran the family farm stand for several years where she became familiar with many of the neighborhood patrons.
A devoted home-maker and mother, Carol is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Roger, daughters Holly of Niskayuna, who has been her devoted care-giver throughout her health struggles, Barbara of Niskayuna, Elizabeth of Sea Cliff, N.Y. and grandsons, Lee and Grant Chiaro, both of Niskayuna. In addition, Carol is survived by sisters Joan Grishkot of Glens Falls, NY and Susan Harrison of Plymouth, NC, as well as nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm. Interment will take place on Friday at 10 am in Niskayuna Reformed Church Cemetery, Troy-Schenectady Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014, the Niskayuna Reformed Church, or a charity of one's choice.
