SCHENECTADY – Carmina "Carmela" Bruno, 89, entered into eternal rest at her residence early Thursday morning surrounded by her loving and devoted friends.
Carmela was born in Caiazzo, Province of Caserta, Italy, on July 15, 1922 a daughter of the late Stephano and Elizabetta Perrone Buonomo. Throughout her youth, she worked effortlessly on her families land in Italy. She later worked as a maid for 24 years in several homes. She was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and a member of it's Woman's Society.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Louis Bruno whom she was united in marriage on May 31, 1979 and he died September 4, 1998 and her in-laws, Antonio and Ester Bruno.
Carmela is survived by three sisters, Giovana Adelina and Maria Buonomo; several nieces, nephews and cousins all of Italy and the adoring Angela Palmieri and her family whom dedicated the past thirteen years to providing Carmela with love and support.
Services will be held Tuesday morning at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street and then to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pleasant Street, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home Monday from 5 to8 pm.
