SCHENECTADY - Carmelina ‘Carm’ Walkup, 54, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of Thursday, October 25th, 2018, at Ellis Hospital.
Carm was born in Peckville, Pennsylvania on April 26th, 1964 to Annunziata and Dominick DiMatteo. She married John Walkup on October 14th, 1995, and a year later she set aside her professional career to begin raising a family. She was an incredibly strong woman with a servant’s heart, and she loved spending time in the company of friends and family, and attending her church. She was passionate about her work with the Quest for Grace Foundation, an organization that serves local foster children.
She is survived by her loving husband of 23 years, John, her children Melissa, Joseph and Kristina, as well as her father, Dominick DiMatteo, her siblings, Josephine Peek and her husband Mike, Nicolina Margus and her husband Kevin, Joseph DiMatteo and his wife Lisa, and Angelina DeCarlo and her husband Jeff.
Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday, October 29th from 4-7 PM at 501 Union St in Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Church, 331 Seward Place, on Tuesday, October 30th at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Sweetman Cemetery in Charlton.
