LONGWOOD, FL – Carmela ‘Babe’ Faraone Narkiewicz, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother, formerly of Schenectady, North Syracuse, Saratoga Springs, NY, and DeLand and Oviedo, FL, passed away with family by her side on July 14, 2022 at the age of 93. Carmela was born on May 23, 1929 to the late Louis and Carmela Marotta Faraone in Schenectady, NY. She was affectionately called “Babe” as the youngest of eight children. After Carmela graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1947, she worked as a steno typist at General Electric Company. She then married the late Robert H. Narkiewicz in June of 1955. The pair relocated to Syracuse, NY in 1968, where they lived until moving to DeLand, FL in 2011. While in Syracuse, Carmela worked for Federated Department Stores, Inc. for many years. She had a strong Catholic faith and was a member of St. Anthony’s Church (Schenectady, NY) and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (Liverpool, NY). Carmela enjoyed cooking Italian family recipes, gardening, sharing stories, and spending time with family and loved ones.
Carmela was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert; siblings, Arthur, Freddy, Michael ‘Charles’, Diane Campo, Dominick ‘Dick’, Louis, and Armand Faraone. Carmela is survived by her sons, Robert (Corinne) of Winter Springs, FL, and Gary of Saratoga Springs, NY; granddaughters, Natalie (Paul) Meyer of Parker, CO, and Nicole Narkiewicz of Maitland, FL; great-grandchildren, Felicity, Warren and Clyde Meyer; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, July 25, 2022 at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets (Schenectady, NY), with the Rev. Richard A. Carlino, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the service. Interment will be in St John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady, NY.
