SCHENECTADAY- Camille C. Del Monico, 94, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, January 15, 2015 surrounded by the love and peace of her family.
Camille was born and educated in Greenwood, MS, a daughter of the late Salvatore and Salvatrice Restivo Maranto. She met the love of her life Frank, while he was serving in the US Army during WWII. They married on December 2, 1940 and located to Schenectady in 1941. Camille worked for W.T. Grant as a sales clerk, retiring after 25 years of service. Camille was a Southern Belle, with a heart of gold who nurtured everyone. She taught through sacrifice, independence and love. Camille demonstrated great independence, resilience and energy throughout the challenges of her life. She was a devoted communicant of St. Anthony's Church a member and three time past president of the Sacred Heart League and a past president of the Northside Seniors.
Camille was predeceased by her beloved husband Frank on October 1, 1987; and a brother Joseph Maranto.
She is survived by her devoted sons, James Del Monico and his wife Therese, of Myrtle Beach, SC and Sam Del Monico and his wife Cheryl, of Schenectady; a sister Rosa Correro, of Greenwood, MS; loving grandchildren, Michele Del Monico, James (Michela) Del Monico, Erin (Michael) Epting, Kimberly Del Monico and Peter (Aura) Del Monico; adoring great-grandchildren, Elena, Audrey and Madeline Del Monico and Carter and Gianna Epting. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St (at N. Jay) and then to St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street, where a Mass will be celebrated at 11am. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Camille's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN.
