SCHENECTADY – Burton E. Taylor, 73, passed away on Friday at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Burton was born and educated in Schenectady, a son of Lottie Lawyer Taylor and the late Burton Taylor. He honored his county and enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving a 3 year term. Having many self taught trades, Burton worked in the construction industry. He was employed as a truck driver for Allen Potts Construction Company and for the last 15 years for the family business Burt's Lawn and Plowing. He possessed strong work ethics and was devoted to his family and friends. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast, he bowled in the Friday night 'Odd Balls' league at Boulevard Bowl and was a communicant of St. Luke's Church.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Skalski Taylor whom he married July 8, 1967, until her death on September 2, 1988.
Burton is survived by his mother Lottie Taylor, of Amsterdam; a son, Burton J. Taylor and his wife Adina, of Schenectady; grandson, Brandon Taylor; brothers and sisters Linda Hietzman, Patty & Richard Burdo, June & Dick Bowers, Dorothy Dixon & Rick, Esther Shaver, Suzy & Ray Johns, Pete"Les" & Denise Taylor, Robert Taylor & Sylvia Taylor, Billy & Ellen Taylor, David Taylor and Richard & Carletta Taylor; a sister-in-law, Laurie Wasinski and nieces and nephews also survive.
Burt's family is grateful to the nurses and staff on C-1 at Ellis Hospital, for the kind care and dignity bestowed upon their father.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., (corner of N. Jay). Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Kings Road.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8.
