SCHENECTADY – Bruno A. Ando, 92, entered peacefully into eternal rest at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 27, 2018.
Bruno was born on November 19, 1925 in Catania, Sicily, a son of the late Francesco and Caterina (Baratta) Andó. He was educated in Sicily and owned and operated a theater and movie houses. He faithfully served in the Italian Army after WWII. Bruno and his young family immigrated to America on October 13, 1966. He worked hard providing for his family and was employed at the General Electric for twenty years. Bruno enjoyed making family videos, watching movies, listening to music, playing cards with friends and above all, spending time with his family.
Bruno was predeceased by a brother Antonino Andó.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Caterina (Pino) Ando, whom he married on February 11, 1956; devoted sons, Frank Ando and his wife Cristina and Mark Ando and his wife Ann; loving grandchildren, Daniela, Marco, Gabriella, Michela Ando, Christopher (Michelle) Evans and Lisa (Jason) LaFond; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Evans and Kyle LaFond; sister-in-law, Pina Andó; several nieces and nephews in America and Italy.
The Ando family is grateful to Bruno's Hospice Nurses, Donna, Maggie and Jennifer, for their care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 am at St. Anthony's Church, 331, Seward Place. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Restoration Fund or Community Hospice at www.communityhospice.org/donate .
