CROPSEYVILLE- Betty Frances DiBell Gregware, 89, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, after a long illness at the Vermont Veterans Home.
Betty was born in Troy, a daughter of the late Daniel and Hattie Morton DiBell. She was a 1939 graduate of Troy High School. Betty worked for Cluett Peabody Shirt Manufacturing in Troy, where she was the secretary of the President and then lived as a homemaker, caring for her husband and daughter and faithfully serving her community. She was a communicant of St. John’s Episcopalian Church in Troy; a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Ladies Auxiliary; the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Town of Brunswick Fire Co. #1 Ladies Auxiliary, holding many local, state and national offices in each organization. She was involved in local square dance clubs, home bureau and volunteered at Troy Schools.
Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband John ‘Paul’ Gregware, whom she married on October 14, 1943 and he died on April 21, 2007; and a brother, Daniel DiBell.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Paula Stevens DeFrancesco and her husband John of Cropseyville, NY; granddaughters, Jamie Stevens of Brunswick and SGT E5 Dayna Stevens of Grafton; step-brothers, Walter Hughes and his wife Irene and Ken Hughes and his wife Shirley, all of Troy; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday morning at 11 AM at the Perry Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY Highway 43, Averill Park, with Fr. John Provost officiating. Interment to follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Funeral Chapel, Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Pine West Plaza, Bldg. 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205.
