SCHENECTADY – Augustine A. Thompson, 91, formerly of Troy Schenectady Road, passed away Wednesday at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
Augustine was born in Schenectady, the son of the late Joseph and Pacifica Tomasone. He graduated from the former Nott Terrace High School. Augustine enlisted in the US Navy and honorably served his Country during WWII as a Third Class Fire Controlman aboard the Memphis. He worked at the Texaco Station on Van Vranken Avenue, Bearing Distributors in Troy and with his brother-in-law, Lou Della Penta at Laughing Lou’s on Albany Street before beginning his career with the International General Electric Company, gas turbine division as a Customer Service representative in marketing, retiring in 1980 after 25 years of devoted service. Augustine was a hardworking man of great integrity and deep faith. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years Lucy Della Penta Thompson; siblings Frank Tomasone, Philomena Fazzone, Dominick Tomasone, Antoinette Zort, Theresa Conto and Anthony Tomasone.
Survivors include his loving daughters Joan Rockwell and her husband David and Susan Costanzo and her husband Cory, all of Niskayuna; grandchildren, Heather Rockwell, Michael Rockwell and Carrie Costanzo; his sisters-in-law Angeline Pier and Serena DeLuke; several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated, Sunday, August 15, at St. Anthony's Church, Seward Place.
