GLENVILLE – Athena Kruszona, 100, passed peacefully into the Arms of the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Athena was born December 5, 1914 the daughter of the late George and Mary DeMatteo Bliss. She was a 1953 graduate of the former St. Joseph's Academy. She worked for the General Electric Company and later as a clerk at Rickett's Dry Cleaners in Glenville for 27 years, retiring in 1994. She was an election inspector in the Town of Glenville for 30 years, a member of the Thomas Corners Fire Department Auxiliary, and a weekly bingo player. She was longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Scotia.
Athena was predeceased by her beloved husband Leo J. Kruszona and her step-children, William Kruszona and Eleanor O'Brien and a sister Bettina Georgelas.
She is survived by grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Athena was blessed with many dear friends and admirers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 10am at St. Joseph's Church, 221 Second St., Scotia. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery, Fehr Ave, Schenectady.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at St. Joseph's Church on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 am.
