SCHENECTADY – Antonio 'Peppino' D'Andreti, 85, an icon of South Avenue, entered into eternal life after being stricken at home on Monday, December 29, 2014.
Antonio was born in Roccaromana, Province of Caserta Italy on July 28, 1929 to the late Pasqualino and Maria Teresa Borrelli D'Andreti. He immigrated with his loving wife to the United States in 1968, settling in Schenectady. He worked at the General Electric Company for 17 years, providing a good life to his wife and sons. Peppino, enjoyed gardening and wine making and always shared the fruits of his labor with his family and friends. He cherished his grandchildren and the everlasting love and joy they gave to him. He was a devoted communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
Antonio was predeceased by his beloved wife Carmela Pecoraro D'Andreti in 2010, after 52 years of marriage; and his brother Gennaro D'Andreti.
He is survived by his devoted sons, Pasqualino D'Andreti and his wife Cindy, of Exeter, NH, Enzo D'Andreti and his wife Donna, of Cary, NC and Anthony D'Andreti and his wife Julie-Ann, of Rotterdam; adoring grandchildren, Lisanne Cozart and her husband Josh, Andrea, Carmelina, Cristina, Hallianna, Anthony, Joseph, Sadianne, Giovanni and Gianna D'Andreti; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Cozart; brothers, Giovanni and Achillo D'Andreti, of Italy; many dear nieces and nephews and cousins, Lucy and Bill Nye, Mary Borrelli and Joseph Borrelli.
Services will be held on Saturday morning at 8 am at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street and then to St. John the Evangelist Church, where a Mass will be celebrated at 9am. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 pm.
