SCHENECTADY - In the early morning hours of Monday, October 30, in the comfort of her own home, Antoinette Durante transitioned peacefully from this earthly life with her beloved daughters by her side.
Antoinette was born in Schenectady NY in 1926 and was a faithful communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. She graduated from the former Nott Terrace High School and worked at the Navy Depot as a Supervisor of Military Payroll. She married Dominick Durante in 1950 and was blessed with 2 daughters, Karen and Kathy.
She was predeceased by her parents, Teresa and Joseph Miceli, her husband Dominick, brothers Stephen, Dominick and Pat, and sister Mary.
She was Mother to Karen (John) Matheson and Kathy (Steven) Graubart. She was Grandmother to Sheri (Mark) O’Connor, Johnny Matheson and Scott (Michelle) Matheson, Jeffrey (Kelsey) Graubart and Christopher Graubart. She was Great Grandmother to Haley and Ian O’Connor.She was sister to Anne Marie Unkle and Aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Antoinette was a kind, loving and generous woman who was the heart and center of her family. She was happiest when she was with them, cooking for them and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a part of the everyday life of her family, attending every dance recital for her granddaughters and baseball games for her grandsons.
To all she was simply known as “Ma”.
The family is deeply grateful to her devoted caregivers of many years, Josephine, Vittoria, Lidia, and Franca, and most recently for the loving and compassionate care of Schenectady Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be celebrated on Friday, November 3rd at 12:30 p.m. in St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place, Schenectady. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
