Anthony P. Thomas, Jr.

Anthony “Tony” Thomas Jr., 87, of Glenville, passed away on September 8, 2026. Born on October 22, 1938, in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Antonio and Martella (Esposito) Tommasone.

Tony graduated from Nott Terrace High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. He later served his hometown as a Schenectady firefighter for 25 years. More than a career, the fire department gave Tony a close-knit brotherhood and many lifelong friendships that he deeply cherished.

Family and friends were at the heart of Tony’s life. A great cook known for his Italian food, he loved bringing people together around the table and sharing a good meal.

Tony loved vacationing with his family and enjoyed taking cruises and spending time in Florida. A skilled contractor, he co-owned M&T Remodeling with his longtime friend, the late Mike Faraone.

Tony was predeceased by his wife, Irene Sosinski Thomas; his parents; his siblings, Mary Corvino, Alexander Thomas, Carmella Damiano, Rose Sarrutto, Jennie Grecco, John Thomas, and Marlene Allen; and his brother-in-law, Casimir Sosinski.

He is survived by his wife, Anna “Ginger” Thomas; his three daughters, Jacqueline (Paul) Leo, Deborah (Mike) McNulty, and Dawnmarie Thomas; his stepsons, Frank (Shannon), Anthony (Stacy), and Vincent (Lisa) Passaro; his seven grandchildren, Rachel Bievenue (Colin Roy), Paul Leo Jr., Matthew Leo, Jennifer Bievenue (John Gremer), Andrea Leo (Nicolas Earl), Eva McNulty, and Hunter Morganstern; his brother-in-law, Richard “Teddy” Sosinski; and many nieces and nephews.

Tony’s family thanks the doctors, nurses, and staff of 3 West at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center for their care and support.

Services will be held on Tuesday at 10am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. Adalbert Church, 550 Lansing St. Interment will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 pm.
