Anne L. Wall Grzelecki

January 4, 1950 — October 24, 2024

SCHENECTADY - Anne L. Wall Grzelecki, 74, entered into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with her loving husband at her side.
Anne was born in Troy, New York on January 4, 1950, the daughter of Kathleen (Meagher) and Thomas Wall. Anne graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1968 with honors and Mount St. Mary’s college in Newburgh in 1972, earning a bachelor’s degree in English. After graduating from college, she worked as Day Care Director at the Schenectady YMCA for several years. She also worked as a customer representative at Friendly Home Parties (FHP) a family owned merchandizing business. As part of customer support she also organized and conducted annual award dinners and helped organize several group excursions for top merchandise sellers. After FHP Anne worked at the NYS Department of Taxation, retiring in 2019.
Anne had fond memories of her youth, particularly the family camp on Taconic Lake where they spent their summers. It was an extraordinary community of families celebrating life to its fullest and creating lasting memories of happiness and joy. Anne had many hobbies. Top of the list was reading. She was an avid reader and a book was never far away. She would often be reading multiple books at a time. She also enjoyed making crafts, needlepoint and quilting. Anne was a former communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and current communicant of St. Luke’s Church where she joyfully volunteered at the St. Luke’s Food Pantry. She often spoke of her happiness there and the camaraderie of her coworkers.
Above and beyond her craft and reading hobbies, Anne enjoyed traveling to major cities in the United States, Canada and Europe. She met her soul mate, Alan Grzelecki while working at the Parkhurst Children’s Shelter where they served as house parents for disadvantaged children. They married in 1981, and together travelled the USA and Europe. They were particularly fond of European riverboat cruises, and completed trips on the Danube, Seine and Rhine rivers, and a North American cruise on the St. Lawrence Seaway from Kingston, Canada to Quebec City.
Anne will be remembered as a loving and compassionate friend, sister, aunt and beloved wife with a witty personality, easy to live with, difficult to live without. Her love, joy, sense of humor and friendship will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Kathleen Wall and Thomas Wall.
Anne is survived by her beloved husband, Alan Grzelecki; siblings, MaryKay (John) Oliver , Jimmy (Reyna)Wall; nephews, Arthur (Maura) Oliver and Damon (Jen) Oliver; a niece, Reyna Jaimee (Jimmy) Mattocks; great-nephews, Danny, Colin, Shane, Tyler, Colton and Arthur.
