GLENVILLE – Angelina Paone Caschera, 91, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, May 8, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital in Utica after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Antonia Nardo Paone of Calabria, Italy and Schenectady.
Angelina was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and soon entered the work force for the war effort at General Electric.
Her family was most important to her, raising two children she served as President of the PTA; Girl Scout Leader; Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She cared for her father-in-law and brother-in-law until there passing. When GE laid off many workers in Schenectady, Angie had homemade spaghetti sauce, meatballs and sausage for anyone who came to the door for food. She served as Augie's secretary and accountant for AMC Window Cleaning.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Presbyterian Home, Aspen/Birch unit, for months of excellent, compassionate, loving care given to our Mom and grandma. Also to the Physical Occupational Therapy Staff who were patient and encouraging, keeping Mom up and walking until her passing.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, August "Augie" Caschera whom she married on December 25, 1953 and they shared a full life together until his passing on February 24, 2015. Her siblings Mary, Evelyn, Margaret, Constantino and Joseph
Angie is survived by her devoted children, James Caschera, and his wife Lynn, of Schenectady and Mary Zimbler and her husband Donald, of Deansboro, NY; a brother, Victor and his wife Dorothy Paone, of FL; nine cherished grandchildren; and awaiting the birth of her first great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews.
A Service will be held on Friday at 12 noon at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union St., with Fr. Richard Carlino, officiating. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Brandywine Avenue.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Friday from 11 to 12 noon.
