Colonie – Amelia L. Scardino, 89, passed into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
Amelia was born in Schenectady, a daughter of the late Severino and Assunta Caporossi Ciarmiello. She attended Nott Terrace High School, graduating with the class of 1951. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Mario P. Scardino, Sr. whom she married on October 14, 1951, in Schenectady. Amelia, who was also known to others as Amy, Mil, and Mimi, was employed by General Electric before having children. She then became a homemaker. After her children were grown, Amelia worked at the Schenectady County Department of Social Services SJTA (Schenectady Job Training Agency) until her retirement.
Amelia received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1986. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Rexford. She was known as a “prayer warrior”, and regularly hosted neighborhood Bible studies. One of her favorite sayings was: “If you were the only one left on earth, Jesus would go to the cross for you.”
Amelia loved to cook delicious meals; nobody ever left the Scardino table hungry. Amelia loved spending time with her family. Her favorite times were just talking and laughing with her family around the dinner table.
