Guilderland – Aldo Valentino, 79, entered into the arms of the Lord, at home on Monday, May 9, 2022, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.
Aldo was born in Alvignano, Province of Caserta, Italy a son of Nicola and Michelina Corniello Valentino. He lived in Switzerland for a period of time, before immigrating to the United States in 1965, locating to Schenectady with family and friends. Aldo worked as a welder for Schenectady Steel for 40 years. He was an active member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge #321 and instrumental in relocating the lodge to its current location. He enjoyed a friendly game of cards, gardening, fishing, hunting, and wine making. Aldo was a hard-working, loving, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Aldo was predeceased by his siblings, Maria DeMatteo, Jimmy Valentino, and Luigi Valentino.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Mastroianni Valentino, whom he married on June 22, 1969; loving children, Nicola Valentino, Rosa Maria Valentino, and Linda Valentino Baxter and her husband Christopher; adoring grandchildren, Francis Aldo Valentino, Nathaniel Aldo Baxter, Simon Thomas Valentino, and Siena Rose Baxter; siblings, Antoinetta Paniccia, Vittorio (Esterina) Valentino, and Rosa (Alberto) Mastroianni; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eleonora (Agostino) Esposito, Giuseppe (Janet) Mastroianni, Gemma Mastroianni, Mario Mastroianni, Novella (Anthony) Tebano and Fernando (Jill) Mastroianni; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 12 noon at St. Anthony’s Church. Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Glenville.
