SCHENECTADY – Rose C. Dombkowski, 91, of Lenox Road, died peacefully on Friday at The Capital Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre. Rose was born in Schenectady on September 3, 1922, a daughter of the late Angelo and Carolina Angiolina Farina. She attended Schenectady schools and was a member of the 1940 graduating class of Nott Terrace high School. Rose worked for the General Electric Company as a secretary. She and her husband, Stanley, whom she met at GE, were married May 9, 1943. They relocated to Louisiana during WWII while Stanley attended mechanics training as a corporal in the Air Force wing of the Army. Rose waited in Louisiana for the safe return of her husband from the Pacific Theater. Rose was a dedicated homemaker and loving mother to her children, Brian S. Dombkowski and Denise Dombkowski Hopkins, both of whom graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Syracuse University. Her son predeceased her in 1978, while he was a student at the University of Michigan Law School. Rose later in life worked for the National Cigar Corporation. She was a member of her children's school PTA and a communicant of St. Gabriel's Church. She was a proud and supportive mother and grandmother, taking such loving pride in her family's accomplishments. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Dombkowski; her son Brian Dombkowski and her siblings, Carmella Dale and Asunta (Susie) Monticolo. Rose is survived by her loving daughter, Denise Dombkowski Hopkins, of Montgomery Village, MD; her adoring grandchildren, Brian D. Hopkins, of Alexandria, VA and Ariel E. Hopkins, of Washington, DC. Services will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 pm at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Streets with the Rev. Richard A. Carlino, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30 until the service. Interment will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
