Orlando J. Caruso

February 5, 1920 - February 5, 2017

SCOTIA - Orlando J. Caruso, 97, passed away at Baptist Nursing Home on Sunday February 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 14, 1919 in Schenectady New York, he was the son of John and Florence Reo Caruso. He was predeceased by his wife of 67years, Antoinette and his brother, Armando. Orlando worked for General Electric for 40 years as a crane follower/operator, retiring in 1981. He was an avid rail fan and enjoyed his time with his club mates at the Schenectady Model Railroad Club for meetings, outings and building layouts, as well as his rail excursions around the country. He was extremely devoted to his family and friends and was generous and kind to all. His faith in God was the driving force throughout his life. He never neglected to give praise to God and often thanked him for living in the greatest country in the world. He is survived by his children David (Roseann) Caruso and Deena Mahon (Bruce), 6 grandchildren, Nicole Caruso, Denise DellaVilla, Melissa Caruso-Martinez, Adrienne Bailey, James Wetmiller and Michele Patrick, 10 great grand children as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend their special thanks to the N-2 staff at Baptist Nursing home for their kind and compassionate care and love they showed to our family patriarch. Services will be held on Friday at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm.
