SCOTIA– Neil N. Turner, 79, of Amsterdam Road died on Friday at the Dutch Manor Nursing Facility. Neil was born in Corry, PA, a son of the late Theodore and Doris Hazen Turner. He graduated high school and honorably served in the Navy from 1949 until 1953. He attended and received his bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Gannon University. Neil started his career with the General Electric Company and retired in 1992 as a Project Development Manager at the Research and Development Center. Neil enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to hunt, fish, garden and wood working. He was an advocate and past president of CARD (Citizens Advocating Responsible Development), which successfully defeated the proposed Glenville Energy Plant at the Glenville Industrial Park. Neil was predeceased by his sister Marilyn Sprickman. Survivors include his beloved wife Roberta Orsini Turner; devoted children Patricia Turner, of Douglassville, PA, Theodore Turner and Daniel Turner, both of Schenectady; loving step-children, Louis Orsini, of Fairport, NY, and Lynn Brown, of Niskayuna; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two nieces. Services will be held on Monday at 12 noon at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Union at N. Jay Street, with Jack E. Arnold officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, Monday morning from 10 am until 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made in Neil's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
