ROTTERDAM– Mildred M. DeLuke, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Facility. Mildred was born on October 22, 1917 in Schenectady, a daughter of the late Antonio and Rosaria Feola Morinelli. She attended local schools and proudly received a Certificate of Literacy on October 22, 1938. Mildred was a selfless woman who spent her life ministering to the needs of others, especially her family. She prided herself as a second mother to her nephews, Robert, Donald, Dean and James and her niece, Susan DeLuke. She and her husband, James, resided with and helped to raise them when they were children. Her passion for cooking made her meals legendary among her family and friends. She was always ready to prepare a feast for anyone who stopped by to visit. She enjoyed her ladies poker club and the trips she took with them to New York City. Although a homebody, she and her husband enjoyed a memorable cross country trip together. Mildred had uncompromising faith, sharing it through the way she lived her life. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church. She was predeceased by her first and only love, her husband James F. DeLuke, in 2004. Her six siblings also predeceased her: Rose (Angelo) Dagostino, Louis (Edith) Morinelli, Dominick Morinelli, Jennie (Carl) Farina, Neil (Elizabeth) Morinelli, and Josephine (Salvatore) Chiofalo. Mildred is survived by her loving family: Dr. Robert K. (Debrah) DeLuke, Dr. Donald R. (Christine) DeLuke, Dr. Dean (Theresa) DeLuke, Dr. Susan (Peter Warren) DeLuke, and Dr. James DeLuke. Mildred is also survived by her nephews, Lewis (Doris) Pepicelli and David (Louise) DeLuke, and nieces, Carol (Ralph) Salerno and Terry (Patrick) Madden, who each spent time with her in her final days. Numerous additional nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews also survive. Mildred's family is extremely grateful to the direct caregivers and support staff at Kingsway Manor and Kingsway Arms Nursing Center for their kindness and meticulous care of their "Mimi." Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street, Schenectady. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made in Mildred's memory to her venerated St. John the Evangelist Church, 816 Union St. Schenectady, NY 12308.
