Mary Carrieri Sabatini

June 8, 1920 - March 20, 2012

ROTTERDAM- Mary T. Sabatini, 91, entered peacefully into the arms of the Lord at the Baptist Health, Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday with family at her side. Mary was born in Howe's Cave, NY a daughter of the late Louis and Maria Mastrandea Carrieri. She lived in Jessup, PA and relocated with her family to Schenectady in 1927. Mary graduated from Mont Pleasant High School and worked at the Wallace Co., Princess Shops and Montgomery Ward as a credit manager and then at the VA Hospital and retired from the Navy Depot in Scotia. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, a former member of the Schenectady Elks #480 and a charter and forty year member of Pinehaven Country Club. Mary was a devoted and much loved daughter, wife, sister and aunt, who embraced her family with love and compassion, giving and sharing her spirit and providing support without hesitation. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband George Sabatini and her siblings, Michael and Nicoletta Carrieri. Survivors include her loving sisters, Catherine Fanales, Helen Lazzari and Gina Carrieri; sister-in-law, Dorothy Carrieri; nieces, Michele Damelio and her husband Thomas and Maria DeMartino; nephews, Joseph Lazzari and his wife Susan, Louis Ventresca, Stephen Ventresca and his wife Marlene and Bruce Carrieri; she is additionally survived by several great nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Baptist Health, Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and Community Hospice for their heartfelt compassionate care. Mary leaves behind many friends and caregivers especially Vonda Thompson who made each day so special. A Mass celebrating the life of Mary, will be held on Monday at 10AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Princetown Road. Interment will follow in Schenectady Memorial Park, Rotterdam. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 148, Memphis, TN 38148, or to Baptist Health, Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 297 N. Ballston Avenue, Scotia, NY 12302.
