Margherita Mastroianni

April 30, 1927 - January 18, 2022

NISKAYUNA – Margherita Del Vecchio Mastroianni, 94, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Margherita was born and educated in Caiazzo, province of Caserta, Italy on April 30, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Antonia Cammarota Del Vecchio. In July of 1966, Margherita immigrated to the United States with her family. Margherita was a talented seamstress by trade and worked at Ablove Laundry for eleven years. She passed her self-taught skills to her daughters and has worked alongside her daughter Maria, at Maria’s Alterations in Niskayuna for many years. A kind, strong and gentle woman of faith, Margherita was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a longtime devoted communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. She was predeceased by her loving son, Giovanni Mastroianni; siblings, Pasquale Del Vecchio, Angelina DeVito, Maria DeMatteo, Albino Del Vecchio, and Pierino Del Vecchio. Margherita is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Ferdinando Mastroianni, whom she married on August 18, 1952; loving daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Giuseppe Cammarota and Claudia and Joseph Battaglia, all of Niskayuna; a treasured grandmother to Domenico (José) Cammarota, Ferdinando (Renée) Cammarota, Danielle (Garrett) Rockwell and David Battaglia; great-grandchildren, Monica Cammarota, Eva Cammarota, and Scarlett Rockwell ; sister, Esterina (Francesco) Cordeschi; many loving brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews. A Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11:30 am at St. Anthony’s Church, Seward Place. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Masks are required for all services. Memorial contributions may be made in Margherita’s memory to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org or the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
