GLENVILLE – James P. Benedict, 63, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, May 7th at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his devoted family. Jim was born in Swickly, PA on August 24, 1951 a son of the late Anthony and Adelia DeCrosta Benedict. He was raised in Schenectady and was a 1969 graduate of Linton High School. Jim was employed for 35 years at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory. He was a member of the Eagle's Club and a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Jim was a kind hearted man who enjoyed the simplicity of life and all the joy his family and friends gave him. He is survived by his beloved wife Ann M. Galietta Benedict, whom he married on November 29, 1998; his loving and devoted brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Joann Benedict; his precious niece Brianna Benedict and a nephew Michael Renzi. Many aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Services will be held on Monday at 8 am from the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home, 501 Union Street (at N. Jay) and then to St. John the Evangelist Church, Union Street were a Mass will be celebrated at 9am. Interment will follow in the family plot in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Rossi & Ditoro Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Church Restoration Fund, 331 Seward Place, Schenectady, NY 12305.
