Irma G. Munoz

April 1, 1958 - February 25, 2021

Life is ephemeral; the time to love is always now. Despite the pain, a feeling of gratitude unites us with the Supreme Being who allowed us to know and love a very special person. Today we have to say goodbye to the physical body of Irma Grisel Muñoz Rivera. Grisel was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico on April 1, 1958. Daughter of Lucia and Gen. She had 3 maternal siblings, Sylvia, Mirayda, and the youngest, Toñito, and 5 paternal siblings, Aidita, Lourdes, Myrna, Ivette, and Ino.Grisel and her sister Sylvia were raised by their grandmother, Doña Fela, who also raised her cousin Carmencita whom she loved as a sister. Grisel, a mother of 3 boys, Luisito, Nelson and Cristóbal, moved to the United States when her second child was 6 months old, and despite the difficulties she faced, she tackled her challenges with the gallantry of a warrior and pushed forward. Her children, whom she loved deeply, blessed her with 11 grandchildren. Grisel adored her mother Lucia who she referred to her as "mi mai." Grisel would call her daily to ask how her brother was and how she was. Grisel was a very brave and independent woman with a huge heart. She always filled a room with her boisterous and large personality and contagious joy. All those who knew Griselas a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and a friend enjoyed her and knew that she was a very kind, pleasant and wonderful woman who spent her time with her loved ones always trying to help them. If she had, then others did too! Everyone at some point called Grisel "loca (crazy)" whether affectionately or out of concern, but she did what many still do not dare, and that was to live to the fullest, enjoy life as she wanted and felt, without being afraid of what others would say. Let's be more like Grisel, let's live and love to the fullest, let's keep that spirit of joy because we don't know when we might lose the opportunity to do so. In this time of global difficulty in which we find ourselves, having a family loss is even harder, it limits the distance and the effects of the pandemic. We never want to say goodbye to our loved ones, but we know that moving to the other plane is part of our evolutionary process as human beings. We will never forget Grisel and that is why she will always LIVE ON. Only the forgotten die. Rest in Peace and Power, Amen
